Can't change mode

First week I owned the car, no issue. Now however, it only goes into manual mode when controls active. No ability to go to auto unless active off. Active on and can change handling, but power stays reading comfort on display no matter where I put the dial. Thoughts on how to fix this. First thought was reset battery but seeing if other options I don't know about.
