Dash Cameras and parasitic battery drain

Considering a Dash Camera. My car has the now famous parasitic battery drain. Many of these cameras have the detection of a collisions, which means the camera is on while the car is not running. Considering the issues of parasitic battery drain, might this be a feature I not enable on the camera?
