Occasional dead throttle response

I have noticed occasionally (1-2 times in 5-7 miles) while driving in comfort at around 40-50 mph in 7-8th gear that there is no throttle response when I go to accelerate, like I am trying to pass someone. It's like the car is thinking about downshifting. I can actually pump the accelerator 2-3 full times before it shifts and hits the proper gear to accelerate.
