My buddies and I bought three shifter harness wiring kits. All three of us had the the locked in park problem, mine didn't do as often as the other two but it did do it.
We also bought the bushings for the shift cable. All of them crumbled when taking it apart. Was able to do the lower bushing without lowering the exhaust. Used my long crowbar to pop the lower off then another long bar to get behind the lever on the trans to support it then used the crowbar to push it back together, not bad at all. The lower seems to be more damaged by the heat of the exhaust pipes inches away.
Just do it.
