:confused2: New to me 2006 Monterrey Red Convertible and I am attaching the permanent "Loop Eyelet" connections of a battery tender to the battery. Here is my dumb question: when the vertical bolt with nut on the top only clamps together the two ends of the strap around the terminal post, how the freaking hell do you get it tight? While this makes attaching this loop under the nut easy, it appears that the only way to get it even moderately tight is to squeeze the two sides together with vice grips in my left hand while tightening with my right. What kind of clowns build cars now where they have to take a simple battery terminal that has worked for 100 years and change it, requiring much more skill, multiple hands, maybe a special tool only owned by the GM dealer or Advance Auto or OReilly guys?
I have done a fair amount of wrenching long ago, and this and a license plate frame are about the extent of my plans for "personal involvement", but it just doesn't need to be this difficult.
Any recommendations, am I missing something?
