Last week, made a 6 hour drive and picked up a 2011 GS with 53k on the clock. The car is great, exceeded all my expectations as far as condition. Paint is great, interior near flawless. On a rare Sunday off, my daughter was helping me detail and put a nice coat of collinite 845 on. Later on in the day, my wife takes the car out and it throws the service active handling warning. After hours of internet sleuthing, I pull the panel below the steering wheel and the steering angle sensor (or whatever its called) is just flopping there.
i read up on the causes, and Id wage the telescoping wheel hasnt been moved in years until I messed with it. You can wiggle the steering shaft up and down and I can see a bearing that obviously isnt doing bearing things.
Whats this gonna cost me? I was super stoked for the car, now its going to be down in the first week of ownership. My balloon is deflated. Participate in my poll to cheer me up or point me in right direction.
