After about 40 minutes of driving (miles don't seem to matter), TPMS will show "XX" and associated idiot light/ message, but it doesn't go into limp mode or seem to affect handling.
What is interesting is that it is never just one tire. It will be the fronts then next time it might be the rears. Sometimes it is both LH or both RH that fail. Other times, all four fail - but never just one.
I had new tires and rims put on 12 months ago by a reputable Corvette shop (I have no idea who they outsourced tire mounting to, though). I dont think they would have reused old TMPS batteries (but they could). It's just weird that it's not just one.
I just have one set of tires (don't race it), and it's never just one tire, so I think this is different than most of the other TPMS posts.
