Hey all, long time lurker. Don't often use my passenger window, but today when I went to roll it back up, I heard an odd crunching noise and it stopped halfway up. It would go down sluggishly, but would only return halfway up to a hard stop. I pulled the door panel off to get a look because it sounded like my window tint had failed. But it turned out my window cable closest to the front turned into spaghetti.
After some head scratching and cursing, it seems like the car thinks the window is fully up because it will go down slightly when I open the door, like it would normally do to protect the weatherstripping. I tried disconnecting the battery for a while, but that didn't work. What I need is basically reverse indexing... like "here is the bottom" but the normally indexing I've seen referenced is "here is the top".
I couldn't see any relatively easy or safe way to disconnect anything to at least get the window pulled back up, even by hand. I park outside, so this isn't great.
Pics for reference of the cable. Again, this is closest to the front, just behind the main speaker. Pics were taken inside the door with my phone facing toward me on the panel side.
TIA
