I had read of some people having issues with replacement trunk keys and thought I'd pass along what I found. I only got one original trunk key with the car so I had 2 made at Ace Hardware. The keys would work once you got them into the trunk lock, but it took a lot of shaking and working to get them into the lock. After insuring everything was clean, they still were hard getting into the lock.
I looked at the original key with a magnifying glass and noted a small bevel on both front sides of the key. I took a small file and duplicated the bevels on the new keys, and made a world of difference. They now slide in and out much better than before.
Just FYI in case someone else is fighting this. The yellow arrow shows where the missing bevel was added to the replacement keys. Hope it helps someone.
