Should the C6 have been hatch-less ?

Curious if anyone has ever wondered if the C6 should not have the rear hatch, like the C2 and C3 coupes just had all continuous solid body back there with the window and no hatch ?
For a sports car, sometimes i think maybe the rear hatch is a bit too fancy, complicated and unnecessary.
