dielectric grease

Why do people think this is the holy grail of lubricants?
I get it that many/some of the internet and youtube guys use this for everything, but why?
Is it that it's just easiest to just keep 1 kind of grease handy, that works ok for most instances?
A lot of people don't even know what dielectric means. "dielectric, insulating material or a very poor conductor of electric current" (internet discription). The fact is, most grease is non conductive.
So, do use it where you need lubrication but don't want current migration. But it's not needed, or even recommended, where you do want conductivity--bolt on ground connections, etc.
Does anyone even know what type of grease dielectric is? Silicone, teflon, etc.?
Different types for different uses.
