Question on OEM NAV Radio Upgrade

I have a 2012 GS with the OEM NAV radio (NAV, CD, XM etc.) and was wondering if I upgrade to a modern head unit what functions do I lose in regard to the HUD & steering wheel functions? I seem to recall that the NAV functions on the HUD are lost but not sure about the rest.
